Description
This Edradour Single Malt aged in Sherry barrels is quite classic in style while taking us back in time to the era when sherry barrels were the norm.
The nose evokes notes of dried fruits, spices and salted butter caramel. the second nose also offers malty notes as well as notes of cocoa and mint (like After Eight chocolate but more subtle), a classic of the Edradour nose. The palate is voluminous, fruity and slightly spicy, at this stage notes of apricot, orange and exotic fruits as well as notes of liquorice present themselves. The rest is rather vegetal. The finish is very long, it is sweet, slightly spicy, fruity with a hint of undergrowth notes.
The Glenforres distillery was founded in 1825 but quickly changed its name to Edradour 12 years later. Andrew Symington, founder of Signatory Vintage, bought Edradour in 2002.
