Corsican Wines benefit from 2,700 hours of sunshine per year
The Corsican vineyard covers 7000 hectares. The geography of Corsica is very varied and in a few kilometers it is possible to go from a Mediterranean climate to a humid but windy mountain climate, the constant proximity to the sea is a fact common to many Corsican appellations which guarantees finally a lot of freshness in these sunny wines. Soils and subsoils are also very varied. Since 1975 and the recognition of its 9 AOCs, the Corsican vineyard has not stopped progressing and offering powerful wines with great finesse and great precision of aromas.
The appellations of Corsican wines are, Ajaccio, Vin de Corse plus the name of the appellation Calvi, Cap Corse, Fiagari, Porto Vecchio or Sartène, Muscat du Cap Corse, Vin de Pays de l'Île de Beauté.
In red, the main grape varieties used are Grenache, Nielluccio and Sciaccarello, in white, the grape variety mainly used is Vermentino supplemented by Biancu Gentile, Codivarta, Genovese and Ugni Blanc.
