A LBV (Late Bottle Vintage) Port is from the ruby-colored Port family
It is a Port from a single vintage. The Port Wines Institute declares "Vintage" years because they carry something exceptional. Each house decides whether or not to vintage its production. The name LBV clearly indicates the type of port that LBV is. It is a port which could or should have been a Vintage, but which has been kept in lightning a little longer than a vintage because as it ages, this very good Port will not be classified by the house as a Vintage. Originally this category was created following unsold Vintage stocks that had spent more time in lightning.
LBV Ports are perfect wines to drink as soon as they are bottled and offer up to 10 years of aging
