Pauillac wines come from vineyards on the left bank of the Gironde River around the village of Pauillac. Along with Margaux, it is perhaps the most prestigious appellation in the Médoc and therefore in Bordeaux. Pauillac owes its fame to its unique terroir and gravelly soils, ideal for growing Cabernet Sauvignon, the region's leading grape variety. Characteristics of Pauillac Wines

The nose is delicate, and the olfactory nuances range from notes of black fruits and blackcurrant to hints of graphite and cedar. The palate is always full-bodied, rich, and creamy, and the tannic structure is both present and elegantly discreet. The aging potential of these wines ranges from 15 to 25 years, or even longer for certain grands crus, including Lafite Rothschild and Mouton Rothschild.

The grape varieties permitted in Pauillac blends are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Carménère.

Terroir de Pauillac

Le terroir de Pauillac, avec ses sols de graviers et de galets, joue un rôle essentiel dans la qualité des vins. Ces sols bien drainés permettent aux vignes de puiser profondément dans le sol, conférant aux raisins une concentration et une complexité aromatique unique . Les vignes, souvent âgées de 40 ans en moyenne, sont cultivées selon des méthodes traditionnelles, avec un minimum de produits phytosanitaires, ce qui contribue à la pureté et à l'authenticité des vins.
