Pessac Léognan Bordeaux Wine

Pessac-Léognan wines from the Graves region of Bordeaux come from an appellation created in 1987 in the communes of Pessac, Léognan, Talence, Gradignan, Villenave-d'Ornon, Cadaujac, Martillac, Saint-Médard-d'Eyrans, Canéjan, and Mérignac. Pessac-Léognan produces both red and white wines.

Characteristics of Pessac-Léognan Wines

Pessac-Léognan red wines are elegant with a beautiful tannic structure. The nose is generally characterized by notes of black fruits, blackcurrant, cedar, and sometimes truffle. On the palate, they are full-bodied and well-balanced with a fairly long finish.

The white wines are fresh, lively, and mineral. The nose notes are complex, evoking white fruits, citrus, and white flowers. When aged in barrels, there are also some notes of sweet spices including vanilla.

Pessac-Léognan wine grape varieties

Pessac-Léognan reds are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc.

Pessac-Léognan white wines, on the other hand, are produced from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon.
