Graves Bordeaux Wine

Graves wines are located south of the large Bordeaux wine region. The region produces both white and red wines, each with unique characteristics and specific grape varieties.

Graves White Wines

Graves white wines are made primarily from Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscadelle. Sémillon brings richness and notes of honey and candied fruit, while Sauvignon Blanc contributes freshness and aromas of citrus and white flowers. Muscadelle, used in smaller quantities, adds floral notes and roundness. These wines are prized for their aromatic complexity, minerality, and aging potential.

Graves Red Wines

Graves red wines are made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. Cabernet Sauvignon brings aromas of black fruits, blackcurrant, and cedar, as well as a solid tannic structure. The more supple Merlot contributes roundness and notes of red fruits. Cabernet Franc, used in smaller quantities, adds finesse and elegant fruit aromas. These wines are characterized by their tannic structure, aromatic richness, and aging potential, offering a rich and balanced tasting experience.

Note that the Pessac-Léognan appellation, from which prestigious grands crus such as Château Haut Brion are produced, is a subregion of the Graves appellation.
