Glendronach (the Bramble Valley, or Valley of Blackberries in Gaelic) is a Speyside distillery founded in 1826. Like all distilleries it has had a pretty bumpy life and has gone dormant. The highlight of recent years is the acquisition in 2008 of the latter to the Pernod Ricard group by the Benriach distillery led by Billy the former director of Burn Stewart a great name for whiskey in Scotland. The same recipes as for benriach were applied with the exploitation of the treasures still contained in the cellars and the creation of a very varied range in single malt styles. Benromach offers a rather powerful style of whiskey mostly aged in sherry casks (even though bourbon cask trials have been conducted). Benromach generally offers notes of candied fruit cake, prunes, orange, figs and nuts. It is not impossible to consider a Glendronach as a digestive. Rumor has it that Glengronach's reputation in Edinburgh was "business failing" one night, the owner was walking the streets and was hit by two prostitutes. He gave each of them a bottle of Glendronach that they tasted around. Quickly thanks to the help of these ladies, almost all the pubs of the Royal Mile offered Glendronach.
