Description
Madeira Engenhos do Norte 6-year-old Rum, IGP Madeira Agricole Rum, was selected and bottled by Le Gus't, a highly discerning independent bottler.
This very fine Madeira rum offers a nose filled with a woody and spicy universe. You'll encounter notes of vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg in succession. Then, notes of sugarcane, exotic fruits, and even hints of saltiness appear.
The palate confirms the presence of vanilla and spices, followed by woody and candied fruit notes. The finish surprises with a hint of menthol and a final saline and iodized impression, likely influenced by the proximity of the aging cellars to the ocean.
Madeira Island has a long history of rum production, dating back to the 15th century when the first sugarcane crops were cultivated on the island. It wasn't until the 16th century that the first distilleries were established.
