Aging in oak barrels brings roundness and complexity to the mead, the tannins of the wood give the mead a greater aging capacity. Some meads can be flavored with fruits or plants and roots.
Mead is undoubtedly the first alcoholic drink that man produced. A man leaves honey in a container in which it rains during a downpour.
