The Ben Nevis distillery is named after the highest point in Scotland and the United Kingdom (1344 m). NEVIS DEW Special Reserve Cruchon Blend Highland Whiskey 70 cl is a Blended, which are the origin of the whiskey. In English to blend means to assemble, mix. This is what is done with this type of whiskey, which is a blend of whiskeys from several origins. The blend is made from whiskeys of different cereals, made from malt, coming from several distilleries or more or less aged. In the beginning, the big brands of Blend whiskeys were English wine and spirits distributors who assembled different Scotch whiskeys according to their own recipe. Blends are found across the globe in several regions such as Japan or Ireland. While it is a blend, certain blends are still sought after across the globe as top notch.

The NEVIS DEW Special Reserve Cruchon Blend Highland Whiskey is a Single Malt.

To be classified as Single Malt a whiskey follows two immutable rules. The whiskey must come from a single distilleriece which explains the Single, but also come only from malted cereals (Malt). The malted cereal must be barley but under exceptional conditions rye may be used. Scotland is the biggest producer of single malt. These are then Scotch Single Malt Whiskey, but you will find other producing nations such as Japan, India, the Czech Republic or France which also produce excellent Single Malts. The rule is the same, this whiskey must come from a single distillery and the cereal used must be malted barley.
