Description

Domaine LAFAGE Cuvée Nicolas a 100% Old Vine Grenache Cuvée, a red wine from Roussillon IGP Côtes Catalanes.

The robe of this delightful red wine from Roussillon boasts a beautiful ruby color with violet reflections. The nose is mature and exudes a lot of indulgence. It's the overall aspect of these olfactory impressions that then sharpens towards the expression of red and black fruit notes, and then towards spicy notes.

The palate is also mature...

... but with a certain tension attributed to mineral notes. Black fruit notes reappear, and in the finish, a hint of Espelette pepper. The 15% alcohol content is quite substantial, yet this doesn't translate at all in the mouth; the ensemble is well-balanced.

 

A remarkable discovery with an almost unbeatable price-to-pleasure ratio.
