Cellier des Chartreux’s Chamasutra Rouge IGP Gard is a sumptuous red wine crafted from a blend of Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The sun-drenched vineyards in the heart of the Gard region produce an expressive wine with aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, black cherry and spices. The Syrah contributes its spicy character, the Merlot its roundness and the Cabernet Sauvignon its structure. Its supple and balanced palate makes it an ideal accompaniment to grilled meats, charcuterie, roast meats and Mediterranean dishes.
Description
Cellier des Chartreux, based in the Gard department, showcases the sun-drenched terroirs of the southern Rhône Valley through modern, indulgent and accessible wines. The Chamasutra Red IGP Gard is crafted from a harmonious blend of Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, three complementary grape varieties that offer aromatic richness, balance and suppleness. The grapes benefit from a warm, dry Mediterranean climate, which promotes optimal ripeness whilst retaining a pleasant freshness.
The deep ruby colour with purplish highlights hints at an expressive wine. The nose reveals intense aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, black cherry and plum, complemented by notes of black pepper, liquorice, thyme, rosemary and a subtle hint of cocoa. The Syrah contributes spicy nuances and black fruit notes, the Merlot enriches the wine with its roundness and richness, whilst the Cabernet Sauvignon enhances the structure, freshness and length on the palate.
The attack is supple and fruity. The tannins are well-integrated and elegant, offering a generous palate dominated by ripe fruit and gentle spices. The finish is lingering, with a hint of liquorice and characterised by the garrigue aromas typical of the Gard region’s terroirs.
Served between 16 and 18 °C, this red wine is the perfect accompaniment to a rib of beef, barbecued meats, duck breast, cassoulet, pizzas, tapas, charcuterie or hard cheeses. Ready to drink now, it will also develop favourably over the next 3 to 5 years.
