Armorik Double Maturation is an iconic expression from the Warenghem Distillery, a pioneer in French whisky. Based in Lannion, Brittany, this independent, family-run distillery produces single malts that combine traditional methods with regional character.

What sets this whisky apart is its two-stage maturation process. The whisky is first aged in Breton oak casks, sourced through a partnership with a local cooper. It is then finished in Oloroso sherry casks, which enrich its profile and complement the distillate’s aromas. This combination of Breton oak and the influence of sherry gives rise to an expressive, fruity and spicy whisky.

Made from certified organic French and Breton barley, then double-distilled in pot stills, it is bottled at 46% ABV. It is not chill-filtered and retains its natural colour. Its golden colour with amber highlights heralds a balanced nose, dominated by mirabelle plums and citrus fruits, with hints of vanilla and spices.

On the palate, the attack is smooth and rounded. Honey and ripe fruit combine with slightly woody notes to create a generous flavour profile. The finish lingers for a long time, revealing notes of spices, biscuits and orange marmalade.

When enjoyed neat, this Armorik gradually reveals its various facets. It can also be paired with a citrus-based dessert, dried fruit or a few squares of dark chocolate.
