Black Mountain Distillery has established itself as a leading name in French whisky by offering original creations inspired by the Occitan region. Black Mountain Notes Fumées is crafted from a meticulously selected blend of Scotch whiskies. Following an initial maturation period, the whisky is finished for twelve to sixteen months in casks that previously held fine spirits from Gascony. This stage lends the whisky roundness, aromatic richness and elegance. The blend is then complemented by around 20 per cent of Scotch whiskies with smoky notes, offering a subtle profile that prioritises balance over a dominant peaty character.

The colour is a beautiful, luminous gold. The nose opens with mineral and slightly medicinal notes, accompanied by barley grain, delicate smoke and dried fruit. Upon aeration, aromas of flowers, fine wood and vanilla emerge. On the palate, the attack is supple and generous. Flavours of malt, toast, citrus, leather and herbs develop gradually before giving way to an elegant, perfectly integrated smokiness. The finish is long, warm and characterised by a delicate hint of mocha.

Served neat, with a few drops of water, or paired with intense dark chocolate, smoked duck breast or mature Comté cheese, this French whisky reveals its full character and will appeal to lovers of smoky whiskies as well as those wishing to discover an original French expression.
