The Bonnezeaux 2025 from Domaine de Terrebrune is a sweet white wine from the Loire, made from Chenin, the iconic grape variety of Anjou. On the schist-rich slopes of the appellation, late harvesting and the selection of fully ripe grapes enhance the wine’s aromatic concentration and richness. The estate harvests by hand, selectively picking grapes affected by noble rot. A wine best enjoyed as an aperitif, with foie gras or blue cheese.
Description
In the heart of Anjou, the Bonnezeaux appellation is renowned for its sweet white wines made from Chenin. Domaine de Terrebrune showcases this iconic Loire grape variety through viticulture tailored to the hillsides and careful harvesting that takes the grapes’ ripeness into account. The 2025 vintage continues this tradition of sweet wines, where the natural richness of the fruit must be balanced by a refreshing quality.
The cuvée is made from Chenin, a grape variety that lends itself particularly well to the production of sweet and syrupy wines. On the estate’s plots, the schist soils contribute to the expression of the terroir. The grapes are harvested by hand, with successive selections made to choose those at optimal ripeness and, where conditions permit, those showing the development of noble rot (Botrytis cinerea). This selection process enhances the concentration of sugars and aromas.
The estate’s Bonnezeaux has a delicate aromatic profile, characterised in particular by floral notes, ripe fruit, citrus, honey and lime blossom. On the palate, the sweetness is accompanied by a lovely aromatic presence. Chenin plays a vital role in the wine’s balance, bringing a freshness that prevents any sensation of heaviness.
At the table, this sweet wine from the Loire pairs well with a variety of dishes: foie gras, blue-veined cheeses or fruit-based desserts. It can also be served as an aperitif, slightly chilled, to fully appreciate its aromatic expression. A bottle that showcases Chenin and the expertise of Domaine de Terrebrune in producing sweet Anjou wines.
