Traigh Bhan takes its name from a beach on Islay known as ‘Singing Sands’. This sixth release in the collection highlights the balance between Ardbeg’s signature peaty character and the nuances imparted by long maturation in bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks. After 19 years of ageing, the whisky reveals a particularly contrasting aromatic palette: intense smoke, soot, tar, dark chocolate and the freshness of peppermint. Hints of smoked pineapple, toast and camphor enrich the tasting experience, leading to a lingering finish characterised by coffee grounds and liquorice.

Bottled at 46.2% ABV and non-chill-filtered, this single malt retains a generous texture and a beautiful aromatic presence. It is aimed at connoisseurs who appreciate powerfully peated whiskies, but who also seek depth, woody nuances and a mentholated freshness. To enjoy it to the full, serve it at room temperature in a suitable glass, allowing time for the aromas to open up. A few drops of water may reveal further herbal and menthol notes.
