Whiskey from the Scottish Islands and Peninsulas

Whiskey from the Scottish Isles, Arran, Jura, Mull, Orkney and Skye are grouped together in the Highlands production appellation.

Campbeltown is a production area in itself. We have chosen to group them together in this category because it seems to us that their 'Ilien' whiskey character brings them together even if each island has its own identity.

More than 800 islands and the disappearance of a large part of the distilleries producing the whiskey of the Scottish Isles

With nearly 800 islands, the west and north of Scotland is a very large and sparsely populated archipelago, subject to very harsh weather conditions, many local distilleries have disappeared. It is difficult to establish a common style, as the style varies from light whiskey marked by citrus, to robust, hyper peaty beasts. A distillery has emerged in the Shetland Islands, the Saxa Vord Distillery, in Unst Haroldswick, this distillery is the most northerly in Scotland. Another was born on the island of Lewis Abhainn Dearg 100 times smaller than Talisker because it produces only 20,000 liters per year.
