Joseph Drouhin’s Vougeot 1er Cru Les Petits Vougeots 2023 is a great Burgundy red wine made exclusively from Pinot Noir. Situated in the Côte de Nuits, the Les Petits Vougeots vineyard enjoys a remarkable location between the famous Clos de Vougeot and Les Amoureuses. The wine captivates with its deep, luminous red colour, its refined nose and its full-bodied palate, centred on red and black fruits, violet and beautifully refined tannins. An elegant and lingering Premier Cru, ideal for discovering the full nobility of Vougeot.
Description
The 2023 Vougeot 1er Cru Les Petits Vougeots has a deep, luminous red colour. The nose is both powerful and refined, with aromas of violet, raspberry, morello cherry and blackcurrant. On the palate, the texture is round, delicate and voluptuous, with lovely length. With time, the wine will develop more complex notes of undergrowth, truffle and liquorice.
The 2023 vintage in Burgundy stands out for its generosity and quality. The Pinot Noirs display remarkable ripeness, with well-ripened red and black fruits and a smooth, long and complex palate. For Joseph Drouhin, 2023 is therefore a vintage of great quality.
This Premier Cru should be served at around 16 °C. It pairs perfectly with roast poultry, veal, delicate red meats, game and mature cheeses. Joseph Drouhin recommends drinking this wine between 10 and 20 years from bottling, with an ageing potential of up to approximately 25 years under favourable conditions.
The Vougeot 1er Cru Les Petits Vougeots 2023 Joseph Drouhin perfectly exemplifies the elegance of the great Pinot Noirs of the Côte de Nuits. Its prime location, stony terroir, meticulous viticulture and respectful winemaking result in a wine where finesse takes precedence over power.
Its aromatic profile combines red and black berries with violet, before gradually gaining in complexity with hints of undergrowth, truffle and liquorice. On the palate, its delicate structure and rounded texture are accompanied by fine tannins and a lovely length.
This 2023 Vougeot Premier Cru, in a 75 cl bottle, is a particularly appealing choice for lovers of fine Burgundy red wines. It can be enjoyed straight away after opening, but its ageing potential will also allow it to develop further complexity over the years. Served at around 16 °C, it will naturally complement a fine poultry dish, a veal fillet, game birds or a platter of mature cheeses.
