Agrioto 2024 by M. Chapoutier: an expression of the Signargues terroir

M. Chapoutier’s Côtes-du-Rhône Villages Signargues Agrioto 2024 showcases a southern terroir particularly well-suited to the Grenache and Syrah grape varieties. This appellation in the Gard region is distinguished in particular by its terraces of rounded pebbles and its clay-limestone soils, under the influence of a Mediterranean climate characterised by the Mistral.

The blend of Grenache and Syrah is the hallmark of this cuvée. The Grenache brings generosity, roundness and fruitiness, whilst the Syrah contributes structure, colour and spicy nuances. The nose of Agrioto 2024 opens with aromas of very ripe black berries. The palate continues this expression with notes of liquorice and spices, giving the wine a warm and indulgent character.

The grapes are harvested at full ripeness and then vinified in concrete vats for three to four weeks, with daily pumping-over. The wine is then aged for a year in concrete vats to preserve the purity of the fruit and the expression of the terroir.

At the table, this Côtes-du-Rhône Villages Signargues is the perfect accompaniment to slow-cooked meats, grilled dishes, dishes served in sauce or even a braised pork shank. It is ready to drink now and has a predicted ageing potential of three to five years.
