Produced by Domaine de la Solitude, the historic estate of the Lançon family, this 2024 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red showcases the iconic terroirs of rounded pebbles for which the appellation is renowned. Its blend of Grenache Noir, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault offers remarkable aromatic complexity. The nose reveals notes of black cherry, blackcurrant, thyme, liquorice and sweet spices. On the palate, it is generous, velvety and perfectly balanced, with a long, elegant finish.
Description
Domaine de la Solitude is one of the oldest and most renowned estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Situated at the heart of the appellation, the estate cultivates its vineyards according to the principles oforganic farming, in order to preserve the richness of its terroirs, which consist of rounded pebbles, red clay and limestone. The 2024 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red is crafted from a traditional blend dominated by Grenache Noir, complemented by Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault. Each grape variety contributes to the wine’s balance and complexity: Grenache brings richness and a luscious character; Syrah intensifies the aromas of dark fruit and spices; Mourvèdre provides structure with silky tannins and notes of garrigue; whilst Cinsault adds freshness and elegance.
The colour is a deep red with garnet highlights. The bouquet opens with aromas of black cherry, blackberry, blackcurrant, plum, violet, liquorice, thyme, rosemary and black pepper, enhanced by delicate notes of cocoa and spices. On the palate, the attack is full-bodied and harmonious. The tannins are fine and perfectly integrated, offering a velvety texture and lovely freshness. The finish is long, lingering and characterised by notes of black fruits, garrigue and spices.
Served at between 16 and 18 °C, this fine wine is the perfect accompaniment to herb-crusted leg of lamb, a rib of beef, duck breast, game stew, wild mushrooms or mature cheeses. Its ageing potential means it can be enjoyed for around fifteen years or more.
