Château La Chapelle 2023 is an organic red Bordeaux wine from the Saint-Émilion appellation, produced by Béatrice Larribière in Saint-Étienne-de-Lisse.
This family-owned estate covers approximately 15 hectares of silty clay soils, with some vineyard parcels containing vines over 100 years old.
Certified organic since the 2012 vintage, Château La Chapelle focuses on sustainable vineyard management and traditional winemaking.
The wine is made exclusively from Merlot, the signature grape variety of Bordeaux's Right Bank.
Fermentation takes place in concrete vats, followed by maturation in tanks to preserve the natural expression of the fruit and terroir.
The bouquet reveals blackberries, dark fruits, spices and delicate woodland notes.
On the palate, the wine offers a rounded texture, ripe tannins and an elegant, persistent finish.
This organic Saint-Émilion pairs beautifully with grilled beef, roasted lamb, duck and mature cheeses. Serve at approximately 16–18°C.
Description
Château La Chapelle 2023 is an organic red wine produced in the prestigious Saint-Émilion appellation on Bordeaux's Right Bank. Made entirely from Merlot, it reflects the distinctive terroir of Saint-Étienne-de-Lisse and the expertise of winemaker Béatrice Larribière.
A family-owned Bordeaux estate
The estate's history dates back to 1925, when Georges Larribière acquired a property combining vineyards, farmland and meadows.
Successive generations developed the vineyard while preserving its family heritage.
In 1997, Béatrice Larribière took over the winemaking operation after completing viticultural studies and gaining professional experience in Australia and California.
Her commitment to environmentally responsible viticulture led to organic certification beginning with the 2012 vintage.
An exceptional Merlot vineyard
The estate covers approximately 15 hectares of continuous vineyard land situated at the foot of the Saint-Émilion hillsides.
Its silty clay soils provide favourable growing conditions for Merlot, the only grape variety cultivated for Château La Chapelle.
The average vine age is approximately 48 years, although some remarkable parcels contain vines more than a century old.
These older vines form an important part of the estate's heritage.
Traditional winemaking and tank maturation
The grapes are gently pressed using traditional vertical presses, including one inherited from Béatrice's grandfather.
Fermentation takes place in concrete vats, allowing controlled oxygen exchange during winemaking.
The wine is subsequently matured in tanks rather than oak barrels, preserving the natural fruit character and distinctive expression of the vineyard.
Tasting notes and food pairings
Château La Chapelle offers aromas of blackberries, dark berries, spices and subtle woodland nuances.
The palate combines generous fruit, rounded texture and ripe, structured tannins.
Its elegant finish reflects the character of Merlot grown on Saint-Émilion's clay-rich soils.
This organic Bordeaux wine is particularly well suited to roasted lamb, grilled beef, duck breast, mushroom dishes and mature cheeses.
Serve between 16 and 18°C. Gentle aeration before serving can help reveal its aromatic complexity.
