Berckem 2023 comes from Domaine Marcel Deiss in Bergheim, Alsace. The estate is known for its commitment to complantation, an old vineyard practice in which several grape varieties grow together in the same plot and are harvested and vinified as one blend. This approach highlights the character of the vineyard and the complexity that can come from growing different varieties side by side.

A blend of historic Alsatian grapes

The Berckem blend brings together thirteen historic Alsatian grape varieties, with Riesling accounting for approximately 50% and the remaining half made up of other regional varieties. The vineyards are managed biodynamically, with vines rooted in Jurassic limestone and marl soils. These growing conditions contribute to the wine’s distinctive structure and aromatic depth.

Tropical fruit, richness and freshness

The nose is complex and aromatic, led by expressive tropical fruit notes. On the palate, Berckem is broad, generous and vibrant, with a rounded texture balanced by freshness. Its gently sweet character gives the wine richness, while its lively structure keeps the tasting experience balanced and engaging.

Food pairing and serving

This Alsatian white is particularly well suited to pan-seared foie gras, fish served with sauce, white meats and blue-veined cheeses. It can also accompany refined dishes with gentle spices or rich textures. Serving it at around 10–12°C helps reveal its aromatic complexity and generous palate.
