Caroline Morey’s Santenay Blanc Les Cornières 2023 is made exclusively from Chardonnay, Burgundy’s iconic grape variety. This renowned winemaker from the Côte de Beaune has created a wine that combines precision, freshness and finesse. The Chardonnay reveals delicate aromas of lemon, pear, white flowers and white-fleshed fruits, enhanced by an elegant minerality. On the palate, the balance between tension and roundness offers a long, refined finish. This white Santenay is the perfect accompaniment to fine fish, shellfish, poultry in cream sauce and Burgundy cheeses.
Description
The Santenay Blanc Les Cornières 2023 perfectly illustrates the refined style of Caroline Morey, one of Burgundy’s rising stars. Based in Chassagne-Montrachet, this winemaker has developed her own estate by prioritising meticulous viticulture and precise winemaking techniques designed to preserve the identity of each plot. Her approach highlights the purity of Chardonnay and the expression of the limestone terroirs of the Côte de Beaune.
Made exclusively from Chardonnay, this white Santenay has a brilliant pale yellow colour with golden highlights. The nose opens with aromas of lemon, grapefruit, pear, white peach and white flowers, complemented by delicate notes of hazelnut, fresh butter and a subtle minerality. On the palate, the attack is lively and precise. The body gradually gains in fullness whilst retaining remarkable tension. Flavours of citrus, white fruit and flint linger on a long, elegant and briny finish.
Served between 11 and 13 °C, this great Burgundy wine is the perfect accompaniment to scallops, lobsters, fish in sauce, Bresse poultry in cream sauce, mushroom risottos or mature cheeses such as Comté. Enjoyable even in its youth, it also has an ageing potential of 8 to 12 years, during which it will develop more complex aromas of honey, dried fruit and brioche. This cuvée will appeal to Chardonnay enthusiasts seeking precision, finesse and authenticity.
