Château L'Isle Fort Cuvée Précieuse 2016 is the estate’s prestige cuvée, produced under the guidance of Stéphane Derenoncourt, one of Bordeaux’s most renowned consultant oenologists. Produced in the Bordeaux Supérieur appellation, this great wine is made from a plot-by-plot selection covering just two hectares, where each grape variety fully expresses its potential. Its blend of 48% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Franc and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon offers remarkable complexity, combining black fruits, violet, cocoa, sweet spices and graphite in an elegant and perfectly balanced whole.
Description
The Cuvée Précieuse 2016 is crafted from a meticulous selection of the estate’s finest vines. The grapes are harvested at peak ripeness, sorted by hand and then transferred to vats by gravity to preserve their full quality. Whole-berry vinification, combined with gentle punching down and ageing for 12 to 14 months in barrels (one-third new, one-third one-wine and one-third two-wine), results in a wine of great precision and remarkable finesse.
The colour is deep, an intense garnet with purple highlights. The nose reveals aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, black cherry, violet, liquorice, cocoa, graphite and subtle toasted notes. On the palate, the attack is full-bodied and velvety. The tannins are fine, elegant and perfectly integrated, supported by a lovely mineral freshness that extends into a long, harmonious and lingering finish.
Served between 16 and 18 °C, this Bordeaux Supérieur is the ideal accompaniment to a rib of beef, a fillet of beef, a rack of lamb, duck breast, game, porcini mushrooms or mature cheeses. Its ageing potential means it will continue to develop elegantly for many years to come.
