The history of Jean Cavé

Founded in 1883 by Mr Jean Cavé, a winegrower in Lannepax, he set up as a "bouilleur éleveur" (distiller and breeder) with his wife and two sons. Situated in the centre of the Armagnac appellation, Cavé's house went through four generations of excellence in the distillation, maturing and ageing of Armagnac brandies. Stored in old oak casks, these Armagnacs have been subjected to the art of time to acquire the fullness of their aromas.

This old 1978 vintage armagnac is no different from its sisters. It is simply characterised by a year taken from the Maison Jean Cavé's collection of old vintage armagnacs.

This Armagnac has a shiny copper-brown colour. The nose reveals aromas of dried flowers and toasted coffee. On the palate, the attack is lively and well-balanced, followed by discreet, elegant, fresh white fruits with sweet cooked spices. A harmonious finish with a hint of iodine.
