The Jura 12 Year Old is a Single Malt Scotch Whisky that perfectly captures the distinctive character of its island distillery. Situated on the Isle of Jura, the distillery produces whiskies renowned for their fruity and balanced profile, with a delicate smoky influence depending on the expression. In particular, the distillery uses exceptionally tall stills, which contribute to the finesse and lightness of its style.

For this 12-year-old expression, the whisky is matured in ex-bourbon American white oak casks, followed by finishing in Oloroso sherry casks. This cask work plays a key role in the whisky’s character: the bourbon brings sweetness and vanilla, whilst the Oloroso sherry enriches the aromatic profile with deeper, spicier notes.

On the nose, it offers aromas of dark chocolate and citrus. The palate then reveals notes of liquorice and banana, with a smoothness characteristic of ageing in sherry casks. The overall impression remains balanced and approachable, with a slight smoky quality that evokes the island character of Jura.

This 40° whisky , in a 70 cl bottle, can be enjoyed neat at room temperature to fully appreciate its complexity. A few drops of water will also help to gradually open up the aromas. It pairs beautifully with a square of dark chocolate, dried fruit, a caramel dessert or a spiced pastry.
