Foursquare Supernum 55° is one of those rums that immediately catches the eye of collectors of rare spirits. Produced at the Foursquare distillery in Barbados, this Single Blended Rum is available in a particularly limited edition of just 2,800 bottles. This limited availability heightens its appeal amongst enthusiasts and collectors seeking unique vintages.
Supernum stands out above all for its impressive tropical maturation. The rums that make up this expression were distilled in 2004 and then underwent an initial ageing period of 19 years in ex-Bourbon casks. Some of the rums then underwent a second maturation for a further two years in ex-Pineau des Charentes casks. The result is thus 21 years of tropical maturation in Barbados.
This double maturation is the hallmark of Supernum. The former Bourbon casks provide the structure derived from long ageing, whilst the time spent in Pineau des Charentes casks adds an extra layer of aroma. The blend retains Foursquare’s characteristic style whilst gaining depth and complexity.
Another distinctive feature of this Single Blended Rum lies in the blend of distillates produced using two distillation methods: the double-retort copper pot still and the traditional two-column Coffey still. This combination contributes to the rum’s balance and richness.
