This family produces a Père Caboche Châteauneuf du Pape with an expressive, fresh nose, dominated by ripe strawberries and redcurrants, enhanced by notes of sweet spices: bay leaf sauce and grey pepper. The attack of this Châteauneuf du Pape from Jean Pierre Boisson is straightforward, with fine balance, well-integrated tannins and a lovely refreshing minerality on the finish, despite its 14.5° temperature.
In the past, members of the Boisson family had two jobs at the same time: winemaker and blacksmith. The name of the estate comes from this second trade, as the nails used to fasten the shoes under the horses' hooves are called "caboche" in Provençal. At the time, this was the nickname given to the Boisson family.
