On the palate, this white wine from the Val de Montferrand is full-bodied and round; the notes of dried fruit and white flowers are evident, and a subtle oakiness is highlighted by a hint of vanilla.

Description

The Domaine de l'Hortus Grande Cuvée en Blanc 2024 has a nose characterised by dried fruit (apricot, plums) and aromas of white flowers. On the palate, this white wine from the Val de Montferrand is full-bodied and round; the notes of dried fruit and white flowers are confirmed, and a subtle oakiness is highlighted by a hint of vanilla. This wine is made from vines cultivated with very low yields to promote concentration (Chardonnay 40 hl/ha and Viognier 25 hl/ha). It is aged on the lees with weekly stirring for 7 to 8 months.

The Domaine de l’Hortus is situated on the hills of the Montpellier hinterland, in the Languedoc region, near Pic Saint Loup and Mont Hortus. Domaine de l'Hortus is one of the iconic estates of the Coteaux du Languedoc appellation and has built the reputation of Pic Saint Loup.

TheOrliac family took a gamble that many considered mad in the early 1990s, but this 50-hectare north-east facing limestone estate has proved to be a marvel.
