2013 is the eighth edition of the Bruichladdich Islay Barley, using locally grown unpeated single malt. The whiskey was matured in a selection of first-fill [75%] American oak barrels, as well as a combination of wine barrels such as Ribera del Duero, Syrah and Pauillac. The resulting whiskey is pure, fresh and delicate, with sweet notes of fruit and oak.

The Bruichladddich distillery was established in 1881 on the west coast of Islay opposite Bowmore. But it was ultimately in the 2000s after its acquisition by the company Murray Mac David, an independent bottler, that Bruichladdich took off to achieve the form we know it. The people of Bruichladdich describe themselves as non-conformists, easily breaking with tradition to explore new paths. The distiller and cellar master Jim Mc Ewan, a veteran of Bowmore having worked there for 37 years, has stopped counting the finishing tests he has attempted. Bruichladdich's style is marked by salty notes, touches of salted butter caramel, biscuit and fruity notes of lemon and green apple. All this is linked to the shapes of the stills whose necks are very elongated, this characteristic helps to produce this superb Islay whiskey which is quite light and fluid. This distillery promotes short circuits and enters into barley supply contracts with Islay farmers, in addition a bottling chain has been created on Islay to establish itself in the societal landscape of the island.
