Description
The Beauregard Ducasse Graves Red Magnum is a fine expression of the Graves appellation, at the heart of the Bordeaux wine region. The estate has a long family history and is situated in Mazères, south of Bordeaux. What sets it apart is its location on one of the highest points in the appellation, at an altitude of around 113 metres. The vineyard lies on a terroir composed of gravel, sand and iron-rich concretions, on a south-facing ridge. These conditions promote good ripeness in the grapes and contribute to the wine’s character.
The Graves Rouge blend combines Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Merlot brings fruit, roundness and a pleasant texture, whilst the Cabernet Sauvignon contributes to the wine’s structure and length. The winemaking process involves total destemming, cold pre-fermentation maceration and a long vatting period of 20 to 30 days. Ageing takes place mainly in stainless steel vats for 12 to 18 months, to preserve the wine’s aromatic intensity and the freshness of the fruit. Part of the wine is aged in oak barrels to enhance its complexity.
On tasting, this Graves Red displays a dark, brilliant colour. The nose reveals red fruit notes with spicy undertones. On the palate, it offers elegant tannins and a lovely length. Its balanced profile makes it an excellent accompaniment to grilled red meats, entrecôte, rib of beef, roast poultry or certain mature cheeses. Served at around 16 to 18 °C, it will naturally find its place at a large family dinner table or during a meal amongst Bordeaux wine enthusiasts.
