Description

Château Trotanoy Pomerol 2014 – A Prestigious Right Bank Bordeaux Wine

Château Trotanoy 2014 is an exceptional red wine from Pomerol, one of the most prestigious appellations on Bordeaux's Right Bank.

Renowned for its remarkable concentration, depth and ageing potential, Château Trotanoy is among the most sought-after estates in the region.

The property has been managed by Établissements Jean-Pierre Moueix since 1953, maintaining its reputation for producing powerful yet elegant wines.

The vineyard covers approximately 7.2 hectares on a particularly favourable section of the Pomerol plateau.

Its distinctive soils combine gravel over clay with deep black clay, supported by an iron-rich subsoil locally known as crasse de fer.

This exceptional geological diversity contributes to the wine's structure, aromatic complexity and outstanding longevity.

The 2014 Bordeaux vintage benefited from favourable late-season weather, allowing the grapes to achieve excellent ripeness while retaining freshness and balance.

At Château Trotanoy, these conditions produced a wine of impressive purity, precision and depth.

Traditional winemaking takes place in concrete vats, followed by maturation in oak barrels to refine the tannins and develop aromatic complexity.

In the glass, Château Trotanoy 2014 displays a deep ruby colour with garnet reflections.

The bouquet reveals concentrated aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant and dark cherry, accompanied by black truffle, forest floor and delicate floral notes.

Subtle hints of tobacco, spice and oak add further complexity.

On the palate, the wine is rich and beautifully structured, with an impressive concentration of fruit.

Fine yet firm tannins provide a powerful framework, balanced by freshness and an elegant mineral character.

The finish is exceptionally long, combining dark fruit, spice and earthy nuances.

Château Trotanoy 2014 received 97 points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate and 97 points from James Suckling, highlighting its remarkable quality.

This vintage offers excellent ageing potential and can continue developing complexity for many years under appropriate cellar conditions.

It pairs particularly well with roasted lamb, premium beef, duck breast, game birds and dishes featuring porcini mushrooms or black truffles.

Serving at approximately 16–18°C allows its aromatic richness and elegant structure to be fully appreciated.

Presented in a 75cl bottle, Château Trotanoy 2014 is a distinguished choice for fine wine collectors, special occasions and exceptional gastronomic experiences.

Combining the unique terroir of Pomerol with the expertise of Jean-Pierre Moueix, it represents a remarkable expression of Bordeaux's Right Bank.
