Brewed from an aged lambic to which generous quantities of fresh raspberries are added, it boasts a vibrant rosé colour and an intense bouquet of red berries, raspberry, cherry and slightly woody notes. On the palate, it delights with its balance of freshness, natural acidity and rich fruitiness. This craft beer is the perfect accompaniment to red-fruit desserts and mature cheeses, or can simply be enjoyed as an aperitif.
Description
Produced by the legendary Cantillon Brewery in Brussels, Rosé de Gambrinus is a must-try craft beer for fans of spontaneous fermentation. This cuvée is brewed using a traditional method that has remained unchanged for several generations. After ageing in barrels, the lambic is left to macerate with large quantities of carefully selected fresh raspberries. The fruit ferments naturally with the beer, without the addition of any artificial flavourings, colourings or sugars, in order to preserve the product’s full authenticity.
The colour is a superb ruby-pink hue with luminous highlights. The nose immediately reveals intense aromas of fresh raspberry, redcurrant, cherry, blackcurrant and wild flowers. Woody, slightly spicy notes and a subtle hint of wild yeast enrich an aromatic profile of great complexity. On the palate, the attack is lively and refreshing. The characteristic acidity of lambic harmonises perfectly with the natural sweetness of the raspberries, offering a light, elegant and particularly thirst-quenching texture. The finish is long, fruity, dry and subtly vinous.
Served at between 6 and 8 °C, Rosé de Gambrinus is the perfect accompaniment to a red berry carpaccio, a raspberry tart, a cheesecake, pan-fried foie gras, goat’s cheese or gourmet cuisine that plays on sweet-and-savoury contrasts. A true icon of Belgian craft beers, this cuvée showcases the full expertise of the Cantillon Brewery and ranks among the world’s finest fruity lambics.
