La Vigneronne from Brasserie Cantillon is a craft lambic beer brewed according to the Brussels tradition of spontaneous fermentation. This unique cuvée is produced by macerating white Muscat grapes in an aged lambic, resulting in a particularly elegant aromatic profile. The nose reveals notes of fresh grapes, white flowers, citrus and exotic fruits. On the palate, the lambic’s natural acidity is perfectly balanced by the aromatic sweetness of the Muscat, resulting in a fresh, dry finish of great finesse. An ideal beer as an aperitif, or to accompany seafood or mature cheeses.
Description
La Vigneronne is one of the most iconic beers from Brasserie Cantillon, a veritable institution of spontaneous fermentation in Brussels. True to the artisanal methods passed down for over a century, the brewery produces a traditional lambic that is aged for several months in barrels before being infused with a generous quantity of carefully selected white Muscat grapes. This natural maceration triggers a new fermentation, allowing the fruit to contribute its full aromatic richness without masking the character of the lambic. No artificial flavourings, colourings or sugar are added, guaranteeing absolute authenticity.
The slightly cloudy golden-yellow colour heralds a luminous and refined beer. The nose reveals a remarkable intensity of Muscat grapes, white peach, pear, acacia blossom, lemon and orange zest. Upon aeration, nuances of honey, wild yeast, dry hay and a delicate minerality emerge. On the palate, the attack is lively and elegant. The lambic’s natural acidity brings freshness and tension, whilst the Muscat develops fruity and floral flavours of great finesse. The finish is long, dry, mineral and delicately wine-like.
Served between 6 and 8 °C, La Vigneronne is the perfect accompaniment to oysters, shellfish, raw fish, sushi, goat’s cheese, blue-veined cheeses and white fruit desserts. This gourmet beer is a must-try for lovers of craft lambics, gourmet beers and exceptional vintages inspired by the world of wine.
