Description
This 2023 Aloxe-Corton Red "Les Brunettes et Planchots" from Château Philippe le Hardi boasts a lovely, deep ruby red colour; the nose is quite powerful, offering notes of fruit, including blackcurrant and blackberry, as well as spices. On the palate, it is smooth, with the blackcurrant aromas coming to the fore, before the liveliness of redcurrants takes over. The finish is quite long and evokes notes of undergrowth.
The Château Philippe le Hardi estate is known for its château with its glazed-tile roof. Formerly known as the Château de Santenay, it was once owned by the Dukes of Burgundy. The vineyard covers 98 hectares across several appellations in the Côtes de Beaune and Côtes Chalonnaises regions.
Jean-Philippe Archambaud, who previously worked at Chapoutier and Louis Latour, has been at the helm of this fine estate since 2019.
