Description
Situated on the slopes of Sainte-Foy Bordeaux, Château Hostens-Picant produces wines renowned for their elegance and authenticity. The Bloody Nose Rouge cuvée is crafted from a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, two iconic Bordeaux grape varieties. The Merlot brings a lovely richness, with aromas of black cherry and blackberry, and a round, velvety texture. The Cabernet Franc complements the blend with notes of violet, spices and liquorice, along with a freshness that gives the wine its perfect balance. The grapes are harvested at peak ripeness to preserve their aromatic expression and finesse.
This cuvée benefits from the expertise of Stéphane Derenoncourt, one of the world’s most renowned oenological consultants. For over thirty years, he has worked with numerous prestigious estates in France and internationally. His philosophy is based on an in-depth knowledge of each plot, controlled yields, sustainable viticulture and minimal intervention during winemaking, in order to reveal the personality of each terroir. His aim is to produce precise, elegant, balanced wines that are true to their origins, rather than showy wines.
The colour is a deep red with garnet highlights. The bouquet reveals aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, black cherry, violet, liquorice, cocoa and subtle toasty notes. On the palate, the attack is full-bodied and velvety. The tannins are fine and perfectly integrated, supporting a generous body and lovely freshness. The finish is long, elegant and lingering, with notes of ripe black fruits and spices.
Served at between 16 and 18 °C, this Sainte-Foy Bordeaux is the ideal accompaniment to a rib of beef, duck breast, leg of lamb, grilled meats, a stew or mature cheeses.
