Château Puygueraud is regarded as one of the leading estates in the Francs Côtes de Bordeaux appellation. Run by the Thienpont family, the estate has for many years benefited from the guidance of Stéphane Derenoncourt, whose meticulous work brings out the best in every plot of the vineyard. This precise approach to viticulture and winemaking results in wines that combine concentration, freshness and elegance.

The blend is dominated by Merlot, which brings roundness, richness and aromas of black cherry, plum and blackberry. Cabernet Franc enhances the freshness, structure and floral notes, whilst Malbec adds a subtle spicy touch and lovely depth. The grapes come from clay-limestone slopes that promote excellent ripeness whilst preserving the fruit’s balance.

The nose reveals aromas of blackcurrant, ripe black fruits, violet, liquorice and cedar. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, silky and perfectly structured. The tannins are refined, the body is dense without being heavy, and the finish reveals delicate notes of spice, cocoa and black fruits.

Served at between 16 and 18 °C, Château Puygueraud is the perfect accompaniment to a rib of beef, duck breast, rack of lamb, game stew or mature cheeses. With excellent ageing potential of 10 to 15 years depending on the vintage, it will appeal to lovers of great Bordeaux wines seeking an authentic, elegant and accessible wine.
