Andresen Porto Fine Ruby is a Port wine crafted from a blend of traditional grape varieties from the Douro Valley, including Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Mourisco Tinto and Donzelinho Tinto. This blend gives the wine an intense ruby colour and generous aromas of red berries, candied fruit and chocolate. On the palate, it delights with its velvety texture, balanced sweetness and lingering finish. Ideal as an aperitif or with chocolate desserts and blue-veined cheeses.
Description
Andresen Fine Ruby Port embodies the classic style of great Ruby Ports thanks to a blend of grape varieties emblematic of Portugal’s Douro region. Traditional varieties, notably Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Mourisco Tinto and Donzelinho Tinto, offer a remarkable balance between power, fruit and elegance. After ageing in oak casks, this Port retains all the freshness of its fruit whilst developing a beautiful aromatic complexity.
The bouquet opens with intense notes of cherry, raspberry, blackberry and plum, quickly joined by hints of dark chocolate, fig, dried fruit and sweet spices. On the palate, the texture is full-bodied and velvety. Fruity flavours dominate, supported by a harmonious structure and a perfectly balanced sweetness that avoids any heaviness.
The finish is long, indulgent and lingering, with notes of cocoa, prune and jammy red berries. This Ruby Port is ideal with a Black Forest cake, a chocolate fondant, a red berry tart or blue cheeses. It can also be enjoyed on its own at the end of a meal or as an aperitif.
Thanks to its excellent balance, aromatic intensity and accessible style, the Andresen Fine Ruby is a sure bet for those wishing to discover the great Port wines. It will appeal to fortified wine enthusiasts seeking a fruity, elegant cuvée that remains true to the historic expertise of the Andresen house.
