La Casa Diego & Maria Silver Tequila 70cl is a Mexican silver tequila produced in Jalisco using mature Weber blue agave.
The agave plants are harvested after approximately seven to eight years of growth, when they have developed the reserves needed for tequila production.
After harvesting, the agave hearts are heated and crushed to release their sugars.
The extracted juice is fermented before undergoing double distillation in copper stills.
The tequila then rests for six months in stainless steel tanks, allowing its aromatic components to integrate without oak influence.
The result is a clear spirit with a distinctive agave character.
On the nose, Casa Diego & Maria Silver offers clean herbal aromas and notes of cooked agave.
The palate is balanced, with fresh agave flavours taking centre stage.
The finish is warm, with a subtle hint of pepper.
Bottled at 38% ABV, this tequila is particularly suitable for Margaritas, Palomas and other citrus-based cocktails.
Description
A Silver Tequila Inspired by Mexican Culture
La Casa Diego & Maria Silver is a tequila produced in the Mexican state of Jalisco, one of the country's most important tequila-producing regions.
The spirit is made using Weber blue agave and represents the original expression in the Casa Diego & Maria range.
Its character is defined by fresh agave flavours, herbal aromas and a gently peppery finish.
The bottle's colourful label is inspired by the Mexican Día de Muertos, or Day of the Dead.
It tells the symbolic story of Diego and Maria through the joyful and difficult moments of their lives.
Blue Agave Harvested at Maturity
The agave plants used for this tequila grow in Jalisco, approximately 100 kilometres from Guadalajara.
They are harvested by hand after reaching maturity, usually between seven and eight years.
The leaves are removed to expose the central hearts, known as piñas.
These hearts are heated to convert the plant's natural reserves into fermentable sugars.
The cooked agave is then crushed, and the extracted juice undergoes fermentation.
This process develops the aromatic compounds that contribute to the finished tequila.
Double Distillation in Copper Stills
After fermentation, the liquid is distilled twice in copper stills.
According to the distributor, the spirit reaches approximately 55% alcohol by volume after the second distillation.
This process concentrates the alcohol and shapes the aromatic profile of the tequila.
The distillate is then transferred to stainless steel tanks.
Six Months of Resting in Stainless Steel
Casa Diego & Maria Silver rests for six months in stainless steel tanks before bottling.
This period allows the spirit's aromatic components to integrate.
Unlike oak maturation, stainless steel does not contribute woody flavours or colour.
The tequila therefore retains its clear appearance and direct expression of cooked agave.
It is bottled at 38% ABV.
Tasting Notes: Cooked Agave, Herbs and Pepper
The appearance is clear and crystalline.
The nose reveals fresh herbal aromas, with cooked agave as the dominant note.
On the palate, the tequila is balanced and expressive.
Fresh agave flavours provide the main character, supported by a gentle warmth.
The finish is persistent, with a delicate peppery touch.
Cocktail Suggestions
Casa Diego & Maria Silver is particularly well suited to cocktails.
For a classic Margarita, combine the tequila with fresh lime juice and orange liqueur.
A Paloma highlights its fresh agave character through grapefruit and sparkling water.
It can also be used in a Tequila Sunrise with orange juice and grenadine.
The tequila may be enjoyed neat or slightly chilled to appreciate its herbal and agave aromas.
