Benjamin Kuentz’s Aveux Gourmands whisky lives up to its name: its rich aroma evokes sweet indulgences without compromising the character of a true single malt. Distilled at Warenghem in Brittany, this unpeated French whisky is made from malted barley. Its ageing in bourbon casks, followed by finishing in sweet wine casks from Château Rayne Vigneau, gives it a unique character.

The tasting begins with a generous nose, characterised by honey, hazelnut and cooked fruit. On the palate, the full-bodied texture gradually reveals notes of coconut, pineapple and salted butter caramel, complemented by hints of almond and hazelnut. The finish lingers with aromas of honey and fruit, with a hint of saltiness that recalls its Breton origins.

Bottled at 46% ABV in a 50 cl bottle, this whisky is best enjoyed neat, at room temperature, in a glass with a narrow rim. Allowing it to breathe for a few minutes lets its aromas unfold. It also makes an excellent base for a cocktail, particularly a reimagined Boulevardier.
