Maison Fisselier Whisky de Bretagne is a French blended whisky produced from a selection of malt and grain whiskies originating from distilleries in Brittany.

It carries the protected geographical indication Whisky Breton, which identifies whiskies produced according to specific regional requirements.

The designation covers important stages of whisky production, including cereal preparation, fermentation, distillation and maturation within the designated geographical area.

Breton whisky must be matured in oak casks for at least three years, allowing the spirit to develop colour, texture and aromatic complexity.

The Fisselier expression meets this maturation requirement and is bottled at 40% alcohol by volume.

Unlike single malt whisky, which must come from one distillery and be made exclusively from malted barley, this expression is a blend combining different whiskies.

Its composition allows the producer to bring together grain-derived flavours and the aromatic influence of oak ageing.

Maison Fisselier was founded in Rennes in 1968 by Jacques Fisselier.

The company's origins are closely connected with Breton regional specialities, particularly fruit liqueurs, traditional aperitifs, chouchen and eaux-de-vie.

Jacques developed his first liqueurs after observing customers' interest in the alcoholic fillings used in chocolates sold by his family's delicatessen.

His son Emmanuel took over the business in 1997 and expanded its range of regional spirits.

After operating in Chantepie, the company moved to Pacé in 2018, maintaining its connection with the Rennes area.

The Breton Whisky reflects this broader interest in local spirit-making traditions.

In appearance, it has a clear, pale golden colour.

The nose opens with toasted grain and bread aromas, followed by gentle spice and a restrained peaty note.

On the palate, the whisky is relatively light, offering a combination of roasted cereals, subtle vanilla and delicate oak.

The finish introduces dried raisin flavours, adding a fruity dimension to the toasted and woody character.

Its limited peat influence makes it suitable for drinkers who prefer a less smoky style of whisky.

Maison Fisselier recommends enjoying this expression neat or over ice.

It can also be used in cocktails. For a Breton-inspired Whisky Sour, the producer suggests combining 60 ml of whisky with 30 ml of fresh lemon juice and 15 ml of cane sugar syrup.

This whisky provides an example of the blending tradition within French whisky production, combining the protected Breton geographical origin with the aromatic influence of three years of oak maturation.
