EXPERIMENT’ALE DIPA 75 cl: an intensely hoppy West Coast Double IPA

With the EXPERIMENT’ALE DIPA, Brasserie Spontanerie presents a craft beer that puts hops centre stage. This West Coast-style Double IPA is the result of a collaboration with Tripoint, in a spirit of experimentation and aromatic exploration. The 2025 release has an alcohol content of 8% and is characterised by generous hopping using three varieties: Dolcita, Talus and Citra.

This trio of hops creates an expressive aromatic profile, where citrus notes mingle with tropical fruits. The profile is rounded off by a hint of resinous character, which adds depth and evokes the character of American West Coast IPAs. BRY yeast has been chosen for its drying properties, contributing to a dry finish that allows the hop aromas to shine through. This version is billed as a limited-edition release and is not barrel-aged: the aim is to prioritise the brew’s aromatic freshness and purity rather than the notes imparted by the wood.

The Double IPA style, also known as DIPA, is generally characterised by pronounced hopping and greater intensity than a classic IPA. Here, the 8% ABV lends power to the tasting experience, whilst the dry finish contributes to the overall balance. This is a beer intended for lovers of hoppy, expressive and modern brews.

For food pairings, try it with a hearty burger, spicy pork ribs, mature cheeses or spicy dishes. The citrus notes can also provide an interesting contrast to slightly chilli-spiced dishes. Serve it chilled, but not ice-cold, to preserve its rich aroma.
