BDX Le Jus Blanc: the organic Bordeaux that’s rewriting the rules

BDX Le Jus Blanc was born out of Stéphane Derenoncourt’s desire to offer a different take on Bordeaux. Following the launch of the first BDX Le Jus Rouge, the Bordeaux-based consultant developed this white version in collaboration with Alain Tourenne, winemaker at Château Beynat. The wine comes from clay-limestone slopes in Saint-Magne-de-Castillon and is produced using organic methods. The blend combines three iconic grape varieties from the Bordeaux region: Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris.

This blend is particularly revealing in terms of understanding the style being sought. Sémillon brings body, richness and a certain depth, whilst the Sauvignons lend the wine its energy and freshness. The inclusion of Sauvignon Gris also contributes to its originality. The aim is not to produce a Bordeaux white dominated by very pronounced varietal aromas, but rather a balanced, lively and immediately enjoyable wine. This desire to prioritise freshness and drinkability is one of the hallmarks of the BDX Le Jus project.

Tasting reveals an expressive nose centred on citrus and white peach, with vegetal nuances reminiscent of aquatic plants and nettle. Upon aeration, hints of honeydew also emerge. On the palate, the body of the Sémillon brings a sense of roundness, quickly balanced by the freshness of the Sauvignon. The result is a light, crisp and aromatic white wine, with a mineral dimension and a finish marked by notes of honey and orange zest.

BDX Le Jus Blanc is best enjoyed whilst young to fully appreciate its fruit and vibrancy. Served chilled, it is naturally at home as an aperitif, with oysters and seafood, but also pairs well with grilled fish, a mixed salad or fresh goat’s cheese. It is an organic white Bordeaux designed to be easy to open, easy to share and instantly enjoyable.
