Barbera is one of Italy’s most iconic grape varieties and finds its finest expression in the hills of Piedmont. The Barbera d’Asti DOCG appellation is renowned for producing generous, indulgent wines with remarkable freshness. With ‘Frem’, Domaine Scagliola offers a faithful interpretation of the traditional style, where power meets elegance.
The colour is a beautiful garnet red with ruby highlights that develop over time into brick-red hues. The nose reveals aromas of ripe plum, black cherry, blackberry, wild berries, violet and liquorice, complemented by spicy and slightly oaky notes. On the palate, the attack is full-bodied and generous. The texture is dense, supported by the natural acidity characteristic of Barbera, which brings freshness and balance. The tannins are supple and the finish, long and flavourful, reveals notes of black fruits, spices and a lovely minerality.
Served at between 18 and 20 °C, this Barbera d’Asti is the perfect accompaniment to fresh pasta, mushroom risotto, grilled meats, slow-cooked dishes, game, Italian cured meats or mature cheeses.
