Bellevoye Orange is an unpeated French triple malt whisky created by Les Bienheureux, the spirits company founded by Jean Moueix and Alexandre Sirech. It combines three French single malt whiskies produced at the Bercloux, Hepp and Vercors distilleries.
Each component is made from malted barley and initially matured in oak barrels. After blending, the whisky undergoes a secondary maturation in casks previously used for Costa Rican rum.
This finishing process adds tropical fruit and sweet spice characteristics to the original malt profile.
The nose opens with toasted cereals and bourbon vanilla, followed by caramelised banana, tropical fruits and cocoa beans. On the palate, Bellevoye Orange has a creamy, honeyed texture, complemented by a freshness reminiscent of sugarcane juice.
The finish develops mellow woody flavours, with notes suggesting tropical hardwoods and macadamia nuts.
The absence of peat allows the cereal, fruit and rum-cask influences to remain prominent.
Bottled at 40% ABV in a 70 cl format, Bellevoye Orange is best enjoyed neat to appreciate the interaction between the three French single malts and the finishing casks.
Description
BELLEVOYE ORANGE Triple Malt Rum Finish Whisky. Each of the three malts that compose this Bellevoye Whisky spends between 3 and 5 years in barrels. Then, the blending and finishing process in rum casks lasts for 9 months.
Upon tasting, you'll discover a lovely light amber hue. The nose is characterized by exotic fruits, spices like vanilla and cinnamon, as well as hints of roasted cereals. The palate confirms the exotic fruit notes, followed by honey-like tones and then transitioning to woody notes.
Bellevoye truly masters the art of blending and finishing. Once again, it's a remarkable achievement.
