Description
Costa Álvaro Madeira is a fortified wine produced on the famous island of Madeira, off the coast of Portugal. The result of expertise dating back several centuries, it develops a generous aromatic profile blending dried fruit, caramel, candied fruit and delicate spicy notes. Thanks to its specific ageing process, this Madeira offers remarkable complexity whilst retaining a lovely freshness. Versatile, it can be enjoyed just as easily as an aperitif as it can with desserts, mature cheeses or foie gras.
Costa Álvaro Madeira carries on the tradition of the famous Madeira wines, renowned worldwide for their exceptional ageing potential. Produced using the island’s traditional method, this wine undergoes a maturation process that imparts complex aromas of nuts, toasted almonds, figs, raisins, caramel and honey. On the palate, it offers a fine balance between sweetness, freshness and liveliness, with a long, elegant finish that is the hallmark of great Madeira wines.
Hailing from the island of Madeira, a Portuguese territory situated in the heart of the Atlantic Ocean, Costa Álvaro Madeira draws on a winemaking tradition dating back several centuries. Madeira wines owe their unique character to a distinctive ageing process, during which the wine is gradually heated before being aged in casks. This method encourages the development of complex aromas whilst providing exceptional stability, allowing the wine to be kept for many years after opening.
Costa Álvaro Madeira has an amber colour with mahogany highlights. The nose reveals aromas of walnuts, hazelnuts, dried fruit, dates, figs, caramel, honey and subtle notes of coffee and sweet spices. On the palate, the attack is round and harmonious. Flavours of candied fruit, toasted almond, brown sugar and citrus zest are perfectly balanced by a lovely natural freshness. The finish is lingering, elegant and delicately oaky.
Served at between 10 and 14 °C, this Madeira is the perfect accompaniment to foie gras, nuts, chocolate desserts, a dried-fruit tart, a walnut cake, mature Comté or Stilton, or can be enjoyed on its own as a digestif.
