Description
KILKERRAN HEAVILY PEATED Whisky Batch No. 7 Cask Strength. This Single Malt is very peaty and has been aged in Bourbon casks (90%) and Sherry casks. It comes from the Glengyle distillery, next to Springbank, but it is the Springbank team who run it for a few months of the year.
Once again, they demonstrate their mastery of peat. Batch No. 7 is super peaty, yet avoids the caricature of those whiskies that focus solely on peat at the expense of everything else.
The nose is very lively and evokes the sensations of walking through the pine forests of the Landes region. This delicious scent of resin heralds a cocktail of aromas reminiscent of smoke, fresh peat and floral notes. On the palate, the fresh peat comes through first, followed by delicate smoky notes and finally giving way to pastry notes reminiscent of lemon tart.
