With the Couvent des Jacobins 2024, Louis Jadot has produced a Burgundy White of great elegance. Made exclusively from Chardonnay, this wine reveals aromas of citrus, white fruits, acacia blossom and yellow-fleshed fruits, accompanied by a subtle hint of oak. Its partial ageing in oak barrels lends structure and complexity whilst preserving the grape variety’s natural freshness. Approachable, refined and delicious, this Burgundy white wine is equally delightful as an aperitif or with a meal.
Description
The Louis Jadot estate, founded in 1859, is one of Burgundy’s leading names. With the Bourgogne Blanc Couvent des Jacobins 2024, it offers a cuvée that fully expresses the characteristic style of Burgundian Chardonnay. The grapes come mainly from the Côte Chalonnaise and the Mâconnais, two terroirs renowned for producing fresh, elegant and generous white wines. Vinification takes place at the Givry winery, followed by eight to ten months’ ageing, combining stainless steel tanks and barrels from the estate’s own cooperage to impart aromatic freshness, roundness and complexity.
The pale yellow colour with golden highlights hints at a luminous and alluring wine. The nose reveals aromas of lemon, grapefruit, Granny Smith apple, Williams pear and white peach. Upon aeration, notes of white flowers, fresh hazelnut, delicate butter and a subtle hint of vanilla emerge. On the palate, the attack is lively and elegant. The texture is supple, balanced by lovely acidity that brings freshness and vibrancy. The finish is lingering, harmonious and delicately mineral.
Served at between 10 and 12 °C, this Bourgogne Blanc is the ideal accompaniment to oysters, shellfish, grilled fish, poultry in cream sauce, risottos, sushi or goat’s cheese. Ready to drink now, it can also be cellared for between two and five years to develop greater complexity.
