Hostens-Picant Bloody Nose Blanc is an elegant and expressive white Bordeaux, made from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. The Sauvignon Blanc brings lovely freshness, with notes of citrus, exotic fruits and blackcurrant buds, whilst the Sémillon offers roundness, body and delicate aromas of white fruits and flowers. This cuvée benefits from the guidance of Stéphane Derenoncourt, a leading figure in the Bordeaux wine region, whose approach highlights the identity of each terroir through precise, minimally interventionist winemaking techniques.
Description
Hostens-Picant Bloody Nose Blanc perfectly exemplifies the revival of Bordeaux’s great white wines. Crafted from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, it combines the liveliness and aromatic intensity of Sauvignon with the roundness and elegance of Sémillon. The grapes are harvested at peak ripeness to preserve all their freshness and aromatic richness. The winemaking process is carried out with precision to preserve the purity of the fruit and the expression of the terroir.
This cuvée benefits from the guidance of Stéphane Derenoncourt, one of Bordeaux’s most influential oenological consultants. For over thirty years, he has advised numerous prestigious estates in France and abroad. His philosophy is based on a highly refined plot-by-plot approach, careful observation of the vines, controlled yields and minimal intervention in the cellar, in order to best reveal the personality of each terroir. His work prioritises balance, freshness and aromatic precision rather than the pursuit of power.
The colour is a lovely pale yellow with brilliant highlights. The nose reveals aromas of lemon, grapefruit, passion fruit, white peach, white flowers and a slight mineral note. On the palate, the attack is lively and fresh. The texture is elegant, balanced between tension and roundness, with a lingering finish characterised by notes of citrus and exotic fruits.
Served between 8 and 10 °C, this white Bordeaux is the perfect accompaniment to oysters, seafood, grilled fish, ceviche, scallops, goat’s cheese or refined Asian cuisine.
