Clément XO Martinique Rum: an exceptional, aged agricultural rum

Clément XO Rum is one of the flagship products of the renowned Clément house, a historic name in Martinique’s agricultural rum industry. Produced from pure, freshly-pressed sugar cane juice, it follows in the tradition of rums bearingthe Martinique Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée(AOC).

What sets agricultural rum apart is the direct use of cane juice, unlike traditional rums made from molasses. This raw material gives the distillate a distinctive vegetal and aromatic character, which then develops as it ages.

Clément XO is the result of a blend of carefully selected aged rums. Their prolonged maturation in oak casks allows them to develop great aromatic richness and a particularly elegant texture. The wood gradually imparts nuances of vanilla, spices and dried fruit, whilst preserving the identity of the sugarcane.

On the nose, Clément XO rum reveals a complex palette where notes of vanilla, precious wood, cocoa and dried fruit come together. Spicy and slightly toasty hints round the profile off. On the palate, the texture is full-bodied and round, with a beautiful balance between richness and structure.

The finish is long and lingering, characterised by woody, spicy and delicately roasted notes. This fine aged agricultural rum from Martinique is best enjoyed neat, in a suitable glass, to allow its full complexity to unfold gradually.
